How you helped Lindy’s Treats and Treasures become a reality
We are thrilled that everyone who shops with us knows they are getting the highest quality product and best service around.
Lindy Schlotfeld
President/Owner
After a long career in a highly regulated science field, I decided to try something new. I took my hobby of jewelry-making and my experience working in a large bakery and combined both with my dream of owning my own business. I purchased a historic downtown building on Chambers Street and completely renovated it in 2016. We opened our doors in October 2016, selling our sweet treats: baked goods, gourmet chocolates, and sandwiches on our handmade bread. We also sold our treasures…both old and new, including handmade jewelry, home decor, clothing accessories and more. In 2017, we introduced the Doggie boutique and the ‘Barkery’ offering treats and treasures for your spoiled pooches. We were busy and enjoying our success after almost 8 years in business when my life changed. In late October 2022, I was diagnosed with a very rare and aggressive breast cancer. So beginning in January 2023, I underwent surgery, six months of chemotherapy and six weeks of radiation treatments. During this time, my Mother was also going through the same thing but with colon cancer. We actually would get treatments together so we supported each other. I kept the business open and running during this entire time. However, due to a side effect of the medication, I was not able to make my handmade jewelry so I found a new hobby for both of us to enjoy. This was the beginning of our candle and soap making careers. We started selling our products in our shop and at craft shows. It was something we could do together and get our minds off of our health struggles. So in 2024, I made the tough decision to close the storefront on Chambers Street and downsize in order to free up my time to focus on my health and our candle and jewelry making; which by the way, I can now do again. I will continue to make some sweet treats for the new restaurant going in to our old shop and we will continue to sell our products elsewhere and online. We have been very blessed to have met all of our wonderful customers over the years and we hope to continue providing great products and great service to all of you. Thank you all for your love and support over the years.
